Lakhpati Didi Lilavati Bai of the special backward tribe became an inspiration for the community
Raipur. Lilavati Bai of the special backward tribe Korwa community, who made her mark as Lakhpati Didi, has today become an inspiration for her community in the area. Now Lilavati Bai is earning an annual income of more than 65 thousand rupees from the business of making dona-pattal. Apart from this, she also earns about 40 thousand rupees from agricultural work and collection and sale of minor forest produce. Today she is happy with her earnings and says that Bihan Yojana has changed her life. Seeing Lilabai, other women of the area are also becoming aware and are getting financially strong from the Bihan Yojana.
Gram Panchayat Kutma of Bagicha development block of Jashpur district where people of special backward tribes mainly reside. The main source of livelihood of Lilavati Bai, a resident here, was agriculture and labor. Her income was not enough to meet the needs of her family properly. Her condition started changing when she was linked to the Meenu Lakshmi Mahila Self Help Group under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (Bihan Yojana). Through this mission, she received various types of training and financial assistance. Lilavati Bai, along with her group, started the work of making dona-pattal. She initially received a revolving fund amount of Rs 15 thousand and a community investment fund amount of Rs 60 thousand under the scheme. After this, in March 2022, she got an amount of Rs 2 lakh approved through bank linkage. With which she bought a machine for making dona-pattal and took training for it.
Before joining the National Livelihood Mission, Lilavati’s income was limited, she could barely make ends meet. After joining Bihan, her financial condition started improving. Today she happily tells that now she is able to meet her needs easily.
