Kejriwal approaches Supreme Court against High Court stay on bail
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has moved the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court’s stay on the lower court’s decision to grant bail. Kejriwal has sought a hearing in the matter on Monday itself through lawyers.
It is worth noting that the Delhi High Court on Friday put an interim stay on the lower court’s order granting bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case related to the now defunct Delhi Excise Policy. Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain passed this order after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) moved the High Court challenging the lower court’s order.
The court said that it is reserving the matter for detailed order on the prayer to stay the lower court’s order. It also said that a decision will be pronounced on it in two to three days. Meanwhile, the single judge directed that there will be a stay on the implementation of the lower court’s bail order. The final order will be passed after two to three days.
