Jasprit Bumrah Nominated for ICC Player of the Month Award
Recently, in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2025-25, Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah showcased outstanding bowling skills. Throughout the five-match Test series between India and Australia, Bumrah took an impressive 32 wickets.
Thanks to his remarkable performance in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for December 2024. In December, he played three Tests and managed to take 22 wickets at an average of 14.22.
The 31-year-old bowler was the highest wicket-taker in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, claiming a total of 32 wickets across the five Tests. He bowled 151.2 overs against Australia, maintaining an impressive average of 13.06. As for Bumrah’s injury, there hasn’t been any update on how serious it is. Reports suggest that he might miss the ODI and T20 series against England. However, he could still be seen playing in the Champions Trophy 2025.
In the race for the Player of the Month award, Bumrah faces tough competition from Australia’s captain Pat Cummins and South Africa’s fast bowler Dane Paterson. Cummins took 17 wickets in December at an average of 17.64 during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In fact, Cummins was the second-highest wicket-taker in the series, bowling 167 overs across five matches and taking 25 wickets at an average of 21.36. He also contributed with the bat, scoring 159 runs at an average of 19.88 in eight innings.
