On 5 April 2025, the 16th match of the 18th season of IPL was played between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In this match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and invited Lucknow Super Giants to bat first.
Lucknow Super Giants’ brilliant batting – Lucknow Super Giants batted first and scored 203 runs in 20 overs, while they lost 8 wickets. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram made a great start in the opening pair. Both of them together shared a 76-run partnership in 7 overs. Mitchell Marsh scored 60 runs in 31 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes. After Marsh was out, Aiden Markram took up his responsibility and shared a 15-run partnership with Nicholas Pooran, and 16-run partnership with captain Rishabh Pant. However, Pant once again disappointed and was dismissed after scoring only 2 runs.
Aiden Markram and David Miller’s partnership – Aiden Markram added 51 runs in 31 balls with Ayush Badoni for the fourth wicket. Markram scored 53 runs in 38 balls, including 2 fours and 4 sixes. David Miller also scored fast and took the team to the 200-run mark in 19.4 overs. He scored 27 runs in 14 balls. In the end, Shardul Thakur and Avesh Khan together took Lucknow’s score to 203 runs.
Mumbai Indians bowling – Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was the most successful bowler in this match. He took 5 wickets for 36 runs in 4 overs. Apart from him, Trent Boult, Ashwini Kumar and Vignesh Puthur took 1-1 wickets. Lucknow Super Giants put up a strong performance in this match, and now their eyes are on victory. This match was exciting for the spectators, and both the teams displayed excellent game.
