IPL 2024 Update: Abhishek Sharma’s Heroics Propel SRH to Victory Over CSK

In the latest IPL match, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets. Abhishek Sharma played a crucial role, scoring 37 runs in just 12 balls, helping SRH secure victory. With this performance, he climbed to fifth place in the Orange Cap race, which tracks the top run-scorers in the tournament.

Currently, Virat Kohli leads the Orange Cap standings with 203 runs, followed by Riyan Parag from Rajasthan Royals with 181 runs. Heinrich Klaasen, the SRH wicketkeeper-batsman, remained in third place with 177 runs, while Shubman Gill from Gujarat Titans is in fourth with 164 runs.

In the match, Aiden Markram scored 50 runs off 36 balls for SRH, helping them chase down CSK’s target of 166 runs. CSK had earlier posted 165/5 in their 20 overs, with Shivam Dube scoring 45 runs off 24 balls. SRH bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Pat Cummins, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Jaydev Unadkat contributed well to restrict CSK’s total.

After the match, Markram said that it wasn’t easy batting as the ball got older, but their strategy was to attack in the first ten overs and then adjust accordingly. He emphasized the importance of valuing the batter who is set on tricky pitches. He also joked that he prefers batting over bowling when it comes to choosing sides.
