Preparations are going on in full swing for the general elections in India. Lok Sabha election dates will be announced at 3 pm today. Along with this, Model Code of Conduct will also be implemented across the country. Amidst all this, an American MP has asked social media companies what preparations they have made for the elections to be held in India. Indeed, Meta-owned WhatsApp has a long history of amplifying rumors and misinformation on social media platforms, including WhatsApp. In view of this, the MP has raised the question.

Information about election preparations in countries
MP Michael Bennett, a member of the Senate Intelligence and Rules Committee, which monitors US elections, has written a letter to social media companies. This letter has been written to Alphabet, Meta, TikTok and X. Information has been sought from these companies about election preparations in various countries including India.
