Indore’s Mahila Mechanic Garage is becoming an example of women empowerment
Bhopal. Mahila Mechanic Garage, hearing the name gives a different feeling but probably this is the first Mahila Mechanic Garage of the state which is in Indore. Through this garage, more than 100 women are becoming an example of empowerment and self-reliance.
Indore, which is number one in cleanliness, is emerging as a new identity in the field of women empowerment. All the work in Mahila Garage is being done by women only. Women are being financially self-reliant and are building a new India in the field of women empowerment by standing shoulder to shoulder with men. Women who come here to work after finishing their household chores are fulfilling their responsibilities in a better way on time.
Women mechanics Ms. Shivani Raghuvanshi, Mrs. Durga Meena and Mrs. Megha Kharate said that there was some difficulty in the beginning of the work but someone’s brother, someone’s father, someone’s life partner did not let the enthusiasm decrease and encouraged them continuously. He told that when we were new, we used to hesitate a bit in the work but with courage and confidence, today we are getting a new identity by running the garage. We have got an opportunity to move forward as well as to become financially strong. The women mechanics working here get a salary of 9 to 15 thousand rupees. This work has given these women a different identity. Women who operate two-wheelers in the surrounding area get their vehicles repaired at this garage.
The director of the organization, Shri Rajendra Bandhu, tells that through the organization, women garages are being operated in Piplyahana, Hawa Bangla and Palda, through which 20 to 25 women are working regularly and after learning the work here, more than 100 women were placed in the service centers of reputed two-wheeler companies by the organization. This women garage has been established through an organization registered under the Firm and Society Act. He told that our thinking is that women should run the company themselves and work by taking dealership of other vehicle companies. Through Mahila Mechanic Garage, we are trying to send a message to the society that work cannot be divided on the basis of gender. Women can do every work like men. They just need guidance and opportunities. Today women are mechanics, tomorrow they will run the entire company. They will move ahead shoulder to shoulder with men and will be economically empowered along with employment.
