Increasing stress, depression, anxiety among youth
Stress and depression are increasing among the youth due to job, family worries and financial situation. In many cases, due to lack of solution, they are being driven to commit suicide. Every year hundreds of people in the city are committing suicide due to this. One reason for this is that even their family members do not understand their mental illness. Recently, a girl committed suicide by jumping from the 16th floor in Indore.
The girl was suffering from somatization. There are many people, especially young people, who suffer from somatization. They can be saved by providing timely treatment. In March, more than 1700 people took counseling in the Telemanas helpline run by the government for psychiatry. In this, most of the calls came in regarding the complaint of insomnia, while many calls were coming in regarding sadness in the mood. In this they are telling that they are not happy. They feel as if there is no one to understand.
Psychiatrist Dr. Krishna Mishra said that there is a lack of awareness among people regarding somatization. In this, there is pain in any one part of the body and its reason is not understood. Due to this, the person often goes through pain for a long time. They have the regret of not being able to live a daily life like the normal people around them.
In this, a negative environment is created around the victim. He likes to see only negative things. Recently a patient came for counselling, complaining of breathlessness. Nothing was coming to light in the investigation. The patient looked like he might have asthma, but he was suffering from somatization.
