If we want to compete with America and China in sports, then Indians will have to change their mindset: Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang
Bhopal. Sports Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang inaugurated the Sport India Expo in the 12th edition of the Sport India Conference at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on Friday. This important conference was organized by the Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI) in collaboration with Sport India Foundation and Indian Exhibition Services, in which leading experts and leaders of sports and physical education sector from across the country discussed the future of sports in India.
Need to bring positive thinking towards sports
Minister Shri Sarang said that when there is an Olympics or an international sports competition, we start comparing all the medals with America and China. This is also natural. This is also human nature. Comparative study should also happen. He said that we will also have to think whether the countrymen have the concept of adopting sports as a career, that mindset has changed. At present, there has been some positive change regarding our children making a career in sports. He said that sports should become a passion in a country with a population of 140 crores. Whether it is the Madhya Pradesh government or the NDA government at the Centre, no stone is being left unturned in providing the youth with the environment and resources for sports. Swami Vivekananda’s motto is that sports along with studies are necessary to fertilize the mind and brain. If we adopt this and move ahead, then India also has the capability to beat America and China in the medals tally.
Minister Shri Sanarg said that this is the Amrit Kaal of sports. Many important programs have been run in the field of sports under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, starting from Fit India. Its objective is to create awareness among the youth about sports so that we can become a superpower in the field of sports. He said that at one time the sports budget in Madhya Pradesh used to be only Rs 2 crore. Today it is Rs 700 crore. Efforts are being made at the government level to create awareness among people about sports. Instead of giving mobile phones to children, we will have to be sensitive to send them to the nearby playground by giving them some sports equipment. Unless there is faith in sports, the results will not be positive. The government is doing research and reform at its level. The players who are coming forward at the national and international level are also increasing the respect of the country by performing.
Sports talents were honored
Minister Shri Sarang honored the individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions in sports coaching, teaching, administration and management at the Sports India Awards ceremony. It is noteworthy that this award is given to individuals and organizations doing excellent work in the sports field of India.
In the conference, everyone shared their views on the challenges and opportunities related to sports administration, policy-making and implementation of sports programs at the state and national level.
