Illegal Land Transactions According to ED sources, former Forest Minister Harak Singh Rawat, along with his associates Birendra Singh Kandari and Narendra Kumar Walia, allegedly conspired to fraudulently register two powers of attorney for a disputed piece of land. Despite court orders canceling the related sale deeds, the land was illicitly shown as being sold to Rawat’s wife, Deepti Rawat, and a close associate, Lakshmi Rana. In December 2024, the ED had summoned Harak Singh’s wife, Deepti Rawat, former district panchayat president Lakshmi Rana, and his son, Tushit Rawat, for questioning regarding this case. During the inquiry, the ED raised several questions about land transactions in Sahaspur. Following its investigation, the ED seized the property under money laundering charges. Notably, this land is where the Doon Institute of Medical Science operates, managed by Harak Singh’s son, Tushit.
