Gender budget for border and disaster affected areas
Provision of gender budget is being made in the youth policy for women power in the age group of 15 to 29 living in the border and disaster affected areas of Uttarakhand. To stop the migration of youth from hilly areas and to empower local girls, they will be provided economic development opportunities through self-employment and other schemes.
Special provisions are being made in the draft of the youth policy in this regard. Youth Welfare Minister Rekha Arya said that in the process of making youth policy, young men and women cannot be judged equally. The challenges and needs of the young men and women living in the hills and border areas are different, which is being taken special care of in the policy making process.
In view of this, instructions were given in the last review meeting, on which the team of Planning Department and Youth Welfare Department is working. It is expected that in the next two months, the draft of the youth policy will be finalized and presented in the cabinet. Along with this, the youth policy will be dedicated to the youth of Uttarakhand on National Youth Day on January 12.
