Every Year, a ‘Tribal Science Festival’ Will Be Held, Announces CM Pushkar Singh Dhami
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Adi Gaurav Mahotsav’ program organized by the State Tribal Research Institute at the ONGC Stadium on Kaulagarh Road on Friday. During this event, the Chief Minister announced that a ‘Tribal Science Festival’ would be held annually to encourage tribal talents in the field of science. The Uttarakhand Tribal Research Institute will be provided with necessary funding for this initiative.While at the festival, the Chief Minister interacted with people from various tribal communities who had come from different states and learned about their cultures. Artists from different tribes across the country performed traditional dances. The Chief Minister also visited various stalls set up by the tribal community and even participated in their folk dance.He paid tribute to Birsa Munda by offering flowers at his statue.In his speech, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the State Tribal Research Institute for organizing the Adi Gaurav Mahotsav. He mentioned that this event provides an opportunity for tribal artists to showcase their talents and helps the non-tribal community appreciate the unique art and culture of tribal societies.He highlighted that Birsa Munda accomplished remarkable things in his brief life of just 24 years and 7 months. His contributions to the Indian independence movement are invaluable, and the Chief Minister noted that Munda’s struggles and sacrifices gave a new direction to the freedom struggle.His movement also inspired other tribal communities to organize and actively participate in the fight for freedom. He was a great social reformer who raised awareness against social evils within the tribal community.The Chief Minister emphasized that the tribal community is like the strong roots of our nation. He mentioned that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, efforts are being made to empower and make the tribal and indigenous communities self-reliant. The election of Droupadi Murmu, who comes from a tribal background, as the President symbolizes the central government’s true commitment to empowering tribal societies.He stated that the Prime Minister has tripled the budget for the development of tribal communities.Furthermore, the Chief Minister recognized the historic decision to increase the budget for Eklavya Model Schools by 21 times. Under the Tribal Advanced Village Campaign, 128 tribal villages in Uttarakhand have been selected for development, focusing on basic facilities, economic empowerment, better education, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The state government is also working to improve the living standards of the tribal and indigenous communities by providing them with various facilities.
