Ensure drinking water supply as per the needs of the growing urban area: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that in view of the increasing growth and urban expansion in urban areas, analyze and make plans for the future accordingly. Make concrete arrangements for better utilization of newly constructed water schemes and currently operating water schemes. To ensure adequate water supply, Jal Nigam and Urban Development and Housing Department should make an action plan in mutual coordination and ensure better implementation. Work on priority for reusing the waste water generated in towns and villages due to increased water use. It should also be ensured that waste water does not spread dirt and create conditions for diseases. For this, Public Health Engineering, Urban Development and Housing and Panchayat and Rural Development departments should work in a coordinated manner. Continuous action should be taken at the district level to check the quality of work and material of tap water schemes and information about the same should also be given at the state level. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that social workers and organizations who provide drinking water to the people through their own efforts at the local level should be honored on 15th August and 26th January.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was addressing the review meeting of the Public Health Engineering Department in the Ministry today. Public Health Engineering Minister Smt. Sampatiya Uike, Chief Secretary Smt. Veera Rana and other officials were present in the meeting. In the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav received information about the activities of the department and gave necessary instructions.
Ensure water supply system and their maintenance by forming groups of villages.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that to ensure smooth operation of Jal Jeevan Mission activities in villages, operation and maintenance of water supply system should be ensured by forming groups of villages. Skilled and experienced people should be involved in this work. This activity should be started immediately as a pilot project. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the development plan for drinking water supply and other infrastructure of many cities of the state like Indore-Ujjain, Satna-Rewa which are close to each other and are getting closer to each other, is being planned keeping in view the future needs. Only this should be made. The works of irrigation projects related to drinking water supply should be completed expeditiously.
There should be proper arrangement for water supply of townships developing in rural areas.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the boundaries of urban areas are continuously increasing. As a result, large townships are developing in villages and panchayats. Drinking water supply in these townships should be done keeping in mind the plain conditions. Instructions were given to identify such places and prepare an action plan immediately.
‘Tap water’ will be provided to one crore 12 lakh families
It was informed in the meeting that the activities of Jal Jeevan Mission are being conducted in the state with the vision of supplying drinking water with prescribed quality, adequate quantity and proper pressure to improve the standard of living of the rural population. The schemes of all the villages of the state have been approved and ‘tap water’ will be provided to 1 crore 12 lakh families. To ensure water quality, 51 certified laboratories are established at the district level and 103 at the subdivision level. Cooperation is also being taken from experts from government engineering colleges to improve the quality of materials and works.
State’s Mrs. Anita Chaudhary has been honored with “Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman”.
It was informed in the meeting that Burhanpur has been declared the first “Har Ghar Water Certified” district of the country and state by the Government of India. Also, Mrs. Anita Chaudhary of village Garhmau of Chhindwara district was honored with “Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman” by Madam President. Additional Chief Secretary Finance Shri Ajit Kesari, Principal Secretary Public Health Engineering Shri Sanjay Shukla and other departmental officers were present in the meeting.
