Clash During Naxalite ‘Martyrs’ Week: Sukma Showdown-This week, the Sukma district in Bastar has seen increased tension as security forces clashed with Naxalite rebels. The timing is significant, coinciding with the Naxalites’ annual ‘Martyrs’ Week, observed from July 28th to August 3rd, a period where they commemorate fallen comrades.

 A Week of Remembrance, Heightened Alert-The ‘Martyrs’ Week’ is a time of heightened activity for Naxalite groups. This year, security forces increased patrols and surveillance in anticipation of potential actions. The resulting encounter underscores the ongoing conflict and the sensitivity surrounding this particular time of year for the Naxalites. A combined team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Special Task Force (STF) launched a joint operation.
