Electricity consumers should beware of cyber fraudsters: Energy Minister
Bhopal. Energy Minister Pradumman Singh Tomar has appealed to the respected electricity consumers to pay their electricity bills in cash only at the company’s zone, distribution center office, ATP machine or authorized payment centers like MP Online, Common Service Center. Consumers have the facility of paying bills through the company’s portal https://www.mpez.co.in/ (net banking, credit/debit card, UPI, cash card and wallet etc.) Phone Pay, Amazon Pay, Google Pay, Paytm App, WhatsApp Pay and mobile app for cashless payment of electricity bills. He has said that electricity consumers should beware of cyber fraudsters.
Officials of the company’s Information Technology Department have said that Consumer Identification Number i.e. IVRS number is required for payment of electricity bills under the company. Only on the basis of IVRS number, payment can be made at zones, distribution centers or other gateways MP Online, Paytm, Phone Pay, Google Pay. Electricity bills are paid on Amazon Pay, WhatsApp Pay etc. The company has appealed to the consumers not to transfer the amount of dues to any mobile number on the basis of a call received from any mobile number. Also, do not share your PIN number with anyone.
It has come to the notice of the company that cyber fraudsters ask electricity consumers to press a number on a phone call through SMS, WhatsApp message or IVR technology, in which to make the bill payment, they are scared that your electricity will be cut after a few hours, for this press a special number to pay the bill or contact a special mobile number and deposit the outstanding amount. Such SMS, WhatsApp messages and IVR phone calls are fake, do not pay attention to them. Be alert and cautious of such fake cyber fraudsters.
