Distance education system is an important means of lifelong education: Governor Patel
Bhopal. Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that in global competition, distance education is an important means of lifelong education along with earning livelihood. This is an easy and simple medium to deliver education to extremely backward, remote areas of the society, Divyangjan, domestic, working men and women and youth. Governor Shri Patel was addressing the seventh convocation of Raja Bhoj (Open) University on Tuesday. Higher Education, AYUSH and Technical Education Minister Shri Inder Singh Parmar was also present in the ceremony held at Kushabhau Thackeray International Auditorium, Bhopal.
Governor Mangubhai Patel said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a commendable initiative in the National Education Policy for quality education of socially and economically backward students. It is important that distance education strengthens the efforts to provide social services and protect the rights of the deprived sections.
Governor Mangubhai Patel said that the initiated students should never forget the contribution of their parents and teachers. Always have a feeling of gratitude towards their sacrifice and penance. He said that today students have crossed the first step of fulfilling their goals and dreams through distance education. Now move forward to achieve success in life with this knowledge and skills. Governor Shri Patel said that along with evaluation and improvement of your progress, identify your capabilities. Make continuous efforts with discipline and time management. Make continuous efforts without losing self-confidence, because victory always goes to those who try.
The initiative of giving diploma in Ramcharit Manas and Gita is commendable
Governor Mangubhai Patel said that providing diploma in social development from Ramcharit Manas and Bhagavad Gita by the university is a very commendable initiative. He appreciated the orientation efforts being made by the university in rural areas for sickle cell anemia awareness. Shri Patel said that in the rapidly changing world, along with high standard courses, the university should get quality study material prepared by subject experts. The relevance of the curriculum should also be reviewed continuously. Design your programs according to skill upgradation and future needs. Also provide a platform for easy exchange of knowledge and skills to the students.
Eminent personalities honoured with honorary degrees
Governor Mangubhai Patel honoured Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chancellor of Dr. Homi Jahangir Bhabha Institute, Dr. Atish Shripad Dabholkar, physicist of International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Dr. J.V. Yakhmi of Atomic Energy Education Society BARC, Padma Shri Dr. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Professor of IIT Chennai and Dr. Omprakash Sharma, Chief Medical Officer of Indraprastha Apollo Hospital New Delhi with the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) at the convocation ceremony. Similarly, educationist and former Vice Chancellor (Indira Gandhi National Open University) Prof. Nageshwar Rao was conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Distance Education (D.D.E.). Governor Shri Patel conferred Raja Bhoj Excellence Medal to the students of the university and degrees to the initiated students.
