Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar was dedicated to cultural nationalism: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar presented wonderful examples of good governance, regional development and justice management. The work done by her for the welfare of the general public and self-reliance of women is exemplary. Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar worked towards cultural nationalism through the works of upliftment of religion and culture across the country. To realize this dream of hers, activities focused on these subjects should be conducted during the 300th birth anniversary celebrations of Lokmata. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the meeting of the celebration committee constituted for organizing the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar. Transport and School Education Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh, Minister of State for Culture, Tourism, Religious Trust and Endowments Shri Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain and other senior officials were present in the meeting held at Samat Bhawan (Chief Minister’s residence).

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that it is necessary to encourage study and research on the contribution of Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar. He directed to make necessary arrangements by coordinating with the concerned state governments for the maintenance of temples, places of worship, dharamshalas and other structures for community use built by Devi Ahilya in different states. He said that necessary arrangements should also be made for the continuous organization of religious activities in the places of worship built by Devi Ahilya. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that necessary information should be collected by sending a special team to the original village Chaudi of Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar in Maharashtra. Instructions were also given to organize Ahilya Yatra in different parts of the state and to organize educational activities centered on Devi Ahilya at school and college level.

It was informed in the meeting that the main program of the 300th anniversary celebration of Lokmata Devi Ahilya Bai will be held on 31st May at Jamboori Maidan, Bhopal. The presence of about one lakh participants is expected in this program focused on women empowerment. The launch of postage stamp and coin dedicated to Lokmata Devi Ahilya by the Government of India is also proposed in the program. Principal Secretary Tourism and Culture Shri Shiv Shekhar Shukla, Committee member Smt. Megha Pawar and other officials were present in the meeting. Committee members Smt. Mala Thakur, Ms. Vinita Dharma, Smt. Jyoti Tomar and Shri Rakesh Deniya attended the meeting virtually.
