Dehradun Landlords Face Heavy Fines for Ignoring Tenant Checks- Dehradun police recently cracked down on landlords neglecting tenant verification, issuing hefty fines. This initiative, aimed at enhancing safety and tracking individuals residing in the city, resulted in significant penalties.
A City-Wide Sweep for Tenant Verification- Over 1,700 tenant verifications were conducted across Dehradun, both urban and rural. The police meticulously checked the details of tenants, domestic help, and migrant workers in rented properties. This comprehensive effort reflects the city’s commitment to proactive safety measures and responsible property management.
Vikasnagar and Sahaspur: Significant Penalties Imposed- In Vikasnagar and Sahaspur, police teams conducted approximately 350 verifications. A considerable number of property owners, 38 to be exact, faced penalties for failing to comply with tenant verification regulations. These violations resulted in substantial fines, totaling ₹3.28 lakh in these two areas alone, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
Herbertpur and Surrounding Areas Also Targeted- The verification drive extended to Herbertpur, Sonia Basti, and Furkan Gali, where police verified the identities of 200 individuals. Ten landlords in these areas were fined ₹1 lakh for non-compliance.
