Country’s largest ethane cracker project cum petrochemical complex in Ashta

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav approved the country’s largest ethane cracker project to be set up by GAIL (India) Limited in Ashta tehsil of Sehore district. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav expressed hope that this project will provide employment to the local people and promote industrialization of the state. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav directed for early action on allocation of land required for the project.

It is noteworthy that this project, to be built with an investment of about Rs 60 thousand crore in Ashta tehsil of Sehore district, will be the country’s largest ethane cracker project. A green field petrochemical complex is also proposed in this project. Under this, petrochemicals like LLDPE, HDPE, MEG and propylene will be produced. This project will provide employment to 15,000 persons during the construction period and about 5,600 persons during the operation period. A township of 70 hectares is also proposed in the project. The ground breaking ceremony of the project is likely to take place by next February and commercial production is likely to start in the financial year 2030-31.
