Conserve every drop of water: Minister Shri Silawat

Bhopal: Water Resources Department Minister Shri Tulsi Ram Silawat on Wednesday did Shramdaan near Kerwa Dam under the ‘Jal Ganga Sanvardhan’ campaign. On this occasion, he called upon all the citizens present to conserve every drop of water. Minister Shri Silawat said that to fulfill the resolution of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and to conserve rivers and ponds, ‘Jal Ganga Sanvardhan’ campaign is being run in the state from 30 March to 30 June. In this campaign, works of conservation of water sources, water conservation and promotion are being done on a large scale. He said that everyone should make this campaign successful with their active participation.
MLA Shri Bhagwandas Sabnani, MLA Shri Rameshwar Sharma, MLA Shri Vishnu Khatri, Shri Tirath Meena, District Panchayat President Shri Pramod Rajput, Sarpanch Smt. Meera Tomar, environmentalist Shri Abhilash Khandekar, departmental officers and a large number of villagers were present in the Shramadan program organized for water conservation and promotion near Kerwa Dam, Bhopal.
Minister Shri Silawat directed the officials to beautify and deepen the water sources. He also gave strict instructions to immediately remove all types of encroachment on the ponds of the Water Resources Department. Shri Silawat said that the solution to the water crisis lies in the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan. Taking inspiration from the famous Halma tradition of Jhabua district, he urged everyone to do at least 1 hour of Shramdaan in their lives.
Minister Shri Silawat informed that the Madhya Pradesh government is fulfilling the resolution of former Prime Minister Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s river linking campaign through Ken-Betwa and Parvati-Kalisindh river linking projects in the state. He informed that water availability is being ensured in Bundelkhand region through Ken-Betwa river linking project. Shri Silawat also talked about the target of increasing the irrigation area from 65 thousand hectares to 100 lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh in the next five years. Minister Shri Silawat made all the people present there take a pledge to protect and conserve water resources. He said that this campaign belongs to all of us and the foundation of its success rests on the active participation of every citizen.
