The incident took place on Thursday evening. Due to continuous heavy rainfall in the Chamoli region, a cloudburst occurred near Nandprayag. As soon as the news broke, police and district officials, along with disaster teams, reached the location. So far, no reports of casualties have come in due to the cloudburst. IMD had already issued an alert According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and strong winds were likely on March 10 and 11 in areas including Dehradun, Pauri, Champawat, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar. Wind speeds were expected to reach between 50 to 80 kilometers per hour. IMD urges people to be cautious Apart from this, IMD also predicted similar weather in other districts like Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and Almora. These areas could experience thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.
