Chirra to Shyang, demand for road will be fulfilled, provision of 12 crores made from DMF
People of dozens of villages in forest areas will get better transportation
Raipur. DMF funds are being effectively used to speed up development work in the mining affected areas of mineral-rich Chhattisgarh. In Korba district, where the world’s two largest coal mines Gevra and Kusmanda are located, the unpaved and dilapidated road from Chirra to Shyang in the forest area of Korba development block will be made paved with the amount of DMF fund. The villagers had been demanding the construction of this road for years.
It is worth noting that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has given instructions to use the amount of DMF fund for the development of mining affected areas. This amount is being used to provide health, education, drinking water, roads and means of livelihood to the villagers in these areas. In this sequence, approval has been given for the construction of road from Chirra to Shyang. The distance from Chirra forest area to Shyang under Korba block is about 12 km. Apart from being affected by elephants, the condition of this road, which is about 60 km from the headquarters, has been dilapidated for more than a decade. Due to the dilapidated road, people of more than two dozen villages in this area have to face a lot of difficulties in commuting. During the rainy season, this road is muddy and during the summer, the dust rises, causing trouble to the passersby. For years, the villagers have been demanding the construction of this road. But a paved road could not be built on the Chirra to Shyang road. Keeping in mind the demand of the villagers of Chirra and Shyang areas far from the city, it has been decided to build this road from the District Mineral Institute Trust. A provision of Rs 12 crore has been made for this road.
The foundation of development is being laid in the remote forest areas including the mining affected area of Korba district through the District Mineral Institute Trust. An initiative has been taken to construct roads which are very important to provide better transportation to the people of forest areas. In the meeting of DMF, when the Chairman and Collector Shri Ajit Vasant presented the information about provision of 12 crores from DMF for Chirra to Shyang road among the members, everyone agreed and appreciated this proposal. The distance from Chirra to Shyang is about 12 kilometers. Dharamjaygarh can be reached through Gurma and Shyang through this route. The construction of the road will benefit the people who travel in this area including the villages Simkeda, Vimalta, Chirra, Geetkanwari, Labed, Titardaand, Girari present in this area. Due to the dilapidated condition of the road, traffic used to stop here as soon as evening fell. With the rain, the drivers used to face trouble due to mud and vehicles getting stuck on the road.
The villagers of the area are happy with the provision of 12 crores for road construction from DMF. Lalita Bai, Sukdev Singh, Rameshwar Badhe, women travelling on this route, said that they go to Korba city for important work through this route. Many times there is a delay in returning. During this time, there is fear due to the elephant affected area and the road being covered with mud during rain. Now, after the approval of funds for road construction, we are happy that soon we will be able to get a paved road.
Road will be constructed from inaccessible Amaldiha to Malikachar-
The villagers of this area have to bear the brunt of not having a paved road from village Amaldiha at the end of Korba district to Mali Kachar. The villagers had raised the issue of not having a road before Collector Shri Ajit Vasant, who had come to inspect the government schemes in this area. The collector had instructed the concerned officials to inspect and prepare a proposal for road construction from Amaldiha to Malikachar. In the DMF meeting, a provision of Rs 10 crore for the construction of this road was kept before the committee for approval. The committee gave its consent for the construction of this road.
