Chhattisgarh State Road Safety Scenario Review Meeting chaired by Justice Sapre
Raipur, 04 January 2025: A review meeting of the road safety scenario of Chhattisgarh state was held at New Circuit House Raipur under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Justice (Retd.) Abhay Manohar Sapre and in the presence of Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain. In the meeting, a detailed presentation was given by Sanjay Sharma, Chairman of Inter-Departmental Lead Agency (Road Safety) regarding the overall road safety scenario, causes of road accidents, control measures-targets, road safety audit and future action plan for enforcement, engineering, education, emergency treatment etc.
Chairman Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety Sapre directed to take corrective measures as soon as possible after identifying black spots, provide immediate treatment to the injured, provide proper information about road safety to the students and take effective action against those who break the rules. Government officials-employees and general public were asked to promote the mandatory use of seat belts and helmets during driving for safety. Sapre emphasized on making the citizens aware. He said that the death rate in road accidents can be reduced by taking special initiatives for emergency treatment and trauma care. For this, better work can be done by making strategy and planning with inter-departmental coordination.
