Central government approves Rs 200 crore for Unity Mall project in Chhattisgarh

National unity will be strengthened and economic and cultural exchange between different states will increase – Chief Minister

Unity Mall will promote local products and employment

Raipur 01 January 2025: The State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai is setting up Unity Mall to promote the ODOP (One District One Product) model in the state and to promote the sale of local products. The establishment of Unity Mall will encourage local handicraftsmen, weavers and self-help groups and will create new employment opportunities. The display and sale of products in the mall will encourage handicraftsmen and benefit small entrepreneurs, craftsmen and weavers of the state. It will act as a “one stop market place” for the promotion and sale of local products.

Chief Minister Sai said that Unity Mall is a revolutionary step for the development of the poor, youth, food providers, and women power of the state. It will take the economy of the state to new heights as well as promote employment generation at the local level. It will also encourage Make in India and national unity. The Chief Minister said that the Chhattisgarh government considers important topics like national integration and Make in India along with the development of the people of the state as its priority. Important local products from all other states will also be displayed and sold in the Unity Mall to be established in the state. This will strengthen national unity and increase economic and cultural exchange between different states. Chief Minister  Sai said that on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is giving full support to this reform of the Chhattisgarh Government to encourage handicraftsmen, weavers, self-help groups and local people and to create a healthy ecosystem to create new employment at the local level. The Central Government has approved Rs 200 crore for the establishment of Unity Mall in the state, out of which Rs 100 crore has been provided to the state in advance under capex (capital expenditure). Finance Minister OP Choudhary said that along with local handicraft products, local cuisine will also be made available for sale in the food courts at Unity Mall. There is a plan to take the special products of each district to the global market through Unity Mall. The responsibility of setting up Unity Mall has been entrusted to Raipur Development Authority. Unity Mall will not only increase the income of the local artisans of the state, but will also strengthen the cultural identity of Chhattisgarh. He said that this effort of the Chhattisgarh government under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai will create a strong and sustainable ecosystem in Chhattisgarh, which will be helpful in development in rural areas and access of products to urban markets.
