Celebration of valor in Tharali: Chief Minister Dhami pays emotional tribute to martyr Bhawani Dutt Joshi

Uttarakhand’s Shourya Mahotsav: A Salute to Courage and a Promise for the Future-This year’s Shourya Mahotsav, held in the quaint village of Chepardo, Thali, was more than just a ceremony; it was a powerful testament to bravery, remembrance, and the state’s unwavering commitment to progress.

 Honoring a Hero: Remembering Ashok Chakra Awardee Bhavani Dutt Joshi-The festival, inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, served as a heartfelt tribute to Ashok Chakra recipient, Shaheed Bhavani Dutt Joshi. The ceremony began with the lighting of a lamp and the laying of wreaths at the martyr’s memorial, a poignant moment of remembrance and respect for his ultimate sacrifice in Operation Blue Star. A tree-planting ceremony further symbolized the enduring legacy of his courage.

 Shourya Mela’s New Status and Memorial Beautification-In a significant announcement, CM Dhami declared the annual Shourya Mela a state-level event. This elevation underscores the importance of commemorating Joshi’s heroism and ensuring his memory lives on. Funds have also been allocated to enhance the memorial, transforming it into a fitting tribute to this brave soldier and symbol of national pride.

 A Strong Message: No More Retaliation with Bullets, but Shells!-

Chief Minister Dhami lauded the Indian Army’s strengthened morale under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. Referring to the recent ‘Operation Sindur,’ he sent a strong message: India’s response to terrorism will no longer be measured in bullets, but in shells. This signifies a resolute commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and security.

 Addressing Negligence: Action Taken on Collapsed Bridge-Expressing serious concern over the collapse of an under-construction bridge in Thali, the CM termed it a grave lapse. Three engineers have been suspended, and strict monitoring of all ongoing projects is now in place to prevent future incidents of negligence and ensure public safety and accountability.

 Honoring the Families of Martyrs-The ceremony also honored the families of fallen heroes. The CM personally felicitated the families of Shaheed Satish Chandra, Shaheed Kripa Singh, Shaheed Himmat Singh Negi, and Sarojini Kotdi, a deeply moving moment that showcased the state’s gratitude and respect for their sacrifices.

 Progress on All Fronts: Policy Changes and Development-Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan highlighted the comprehensive progress in the state. She emphasized the transformative changes in policies, including the Uniform Civil Code, anti-copying laws, and initiatives empowering women, showcasing a government committed to holistic development and social justice.
