Scam Alert: Fraudster Poses as Home Minister’s Son to Extort ₹5 Lakh from BJP MLA in Haridwar
A shocking case has come to light in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, where a scammer called a BJP MLA pretending to be the son of the Union Home Minister and demanded ₹5 lakh. The incident has caused an uproar, and the police have registered a case under fraud and other relevant charges, launching an investigation. According to reports, BJP MLA from Ranipur, Aadesh Chauhan, received a call from an unknown number. The caller introduced himself as Jay Shah, son of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and asked for a donation to the party fund. He also mentioned a meeting with senior leaders in Delhi.
As per the police, MLA Aadesh Chauhan’s PRO, Romish Kumar, filed a complaint stating that the unknown caller claimed to be Jay Shah and said that due to Amit Shah’s busy schedule in Delhi and Manipur, BJP National President J.P. Nadda’s son, Harish Nadda, had been authorized to handle matters related to Uttarakhand. The caller then requested financial support for the party fund and even summoned the MLA to Delhi. The scammer later provided another number, claiming it was his secretary’s contact. The next day, when the MLA tried to verify the details through other sources, it became clear that he had been targeted in a fraud scheme. The fraudster even threatened to spread false propaganda against him. Haridwar police have registered a case and begun their investigation. Given the serious nature of the crime—involving the name of a senior minister and an attempt to deceive an MLA—the authorities are on high alert and treating the matter with urgency.
