BCCI has punished the captain of Delhi Capitals Rishabh Pant
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has punished Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi Capitals, and the entire team for breaking the rules during their match against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 season. This is because they were found to be bowling too slowly for the second time in a row.
In the match held at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on April 3, the Delhi Capitals were found guilty of maintaining a slow over rate, which goes against the rules of the IPL. As a result, Pant has been fined ₹24 lakhs, and the other players on the team, including the Impact Player Abishek Porel, were also fined. Their fines were either ₹6 lakhs or 25% of their match fees, whichever is less.
This is the second time the Delhi Capitals have been penalized for this offense during the IPL 2024 season, which is why the punishment is more severe. The BCCI takes these breaches of the rules seriously to ensure fair play and timely matches for fans.
