All the settlements of the state should be connected by roads in the next three years: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that for smooth movement of citizens in rural areas and better connectivity, action should be taken by setting a time limit to connect 100% settlements of the state with roads. A work plan should be prepared by ensuring a survey of the requirement of roads on a scientific basis in all the districts. The opinion of MLAs and Panchayat representatives must be taken regarding the requirement of roads. The state government is committed to connecting all settlements with roads in the next three years. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave these instructions during the review of the works of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in the meeting of Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority in Samatva Bhavan located in the Chief Minister’s residence. Panchayat and Rural Development and Labor Minister Shri Prahlad Patel, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura and senior officials were present in the meeting.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that prompt action should be taken while being alert to the need for repair and upgradation of roads damaged due to excessive rainfall, floods and other reasons. The maintenance and regular inspection of roads should be made more effective by using mobile apps, geo tagging and AI technology. The work of upgradation and lane expansion should be done on priority basis by surveying the current traffic on the roads.
In the meeting, it was informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, the country’s first road from Pandatola to Bijatola has been constructed in Paraswada area of Balaghat district. The state has been the first in the country to receive incentives from the Government of India for the maintenance and upgradation of roads. The e-marg portal implemented in the state from the year 2015-16 for the maintenance of roads was appreciated at the national level and the central government has implemented it in the entire country as National e-marg.
It was told that out of 89 thousand settlements in the state, road connectivity has been ensured to 50 thousand 658 settlements. Survey work has been completed for 11 thousand 544 settlements to be built under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana-4. Initiatives are being taken by the state government for connectivity of the remaining 26 thousand 798 settlements. The progress of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana was reviewed in the meeting. It was told in the meeting that online arrangements for preparing estimates of general maintenance works and technical administrative approval etc. are being ensured through Samveg Portal.
