Business News : Share of women investors in mutual funds increased
The share of women investors in mutual funds increased from 15 percent in March 2017 to about 21 percent in December 2023. According to the latest data from industry body Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi), the pace of increase in the number of women was faster in remote areas than in urban centres. With this, the total assets under management (AUM) in mutual funds crossed Rs 54 lakh crore in February this year. A large number of investors are turning to mutual funds to save and increase earnings.
50% investors are 25-44 years old
The AMFI report released by SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch said, 50 percent of women investors fall in the age group of 25-44. This figure is 45 percent of the total group of individual investors.
Number of women distributors also increased
Goa has the highest share of women in the mutual fund industry at 40 percent. North-eastern states are in second place with 30 percent. Apart from this, the number of women mutual fund distributors has also increased. By December 2023, their number reached the level of 42,000.
