Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai met Union Water Power Minister CR Patil, discussed Bodhghat project

New Delhi, 1 August 2025: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai today paid a courtesy call on Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil in New Delhi. During this, important water projects of the state, especially the much-awaited Bodhghat multipurpose project of Bastar region, were discussed in detail. Chief Minister Sai apprised Union Minister CR Patil that the Bodhghat project is very important for irrigation, drinking water supply and power generation of Bastar. Chief Minister Sai said that the Bastar region has been lagging behind the mainstream of development for decades. The top priority of the present government is to make this region economically and socially strong by freeing it from Naxal violence. He informed that the Bodhghat multipurpose project proposed for Bastar will ensure irrigation of about 8 lakh hectares of land and generation of 125 MW of electricity.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sai also informed that now the Naxal influence has reduced significantly in the Bastar region and a favorable environment is being created for development work. In such a situation, projects like Bodhghat can play an important role in making this region economically strong. He discussed in detail with the Union Minister about taking necessary initiatives to make this project a national project. Union Water Power Minister C.R. Patil praised the efforts of the state government and assured to conduct early technical examination of the proposals related to the project. Chief Minister Sai expressed hope that with the support of the central government, the Bodhghat project will soon take shape and it will become the main basis for economic development and social change in Bastar.
