Trijuginarayan Temple in Rudraprayag Emerging as a Global Wedding Spot, Couples Flocking from Across the World

Trijuginarayan, the sacred place in Rudraprayag where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are believed to have tied the knot, is fast becoming a popular global wedding destination. People from both India and abroad are now coming here to get married following Sanatan (Hindu) traditions. During the wedding season, more than 100 weddings are now taking place here every month.

PM Modi Has Promoted Uttarakhand as a Wedding Destination

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, on several occasions, promoted Uttarakhand as a perfect destination for weddings. The impact of this promotion is now clearly visible at the Trijuginarayan Temple, where couples from around the country and the world are arriving to have a traditional wedding. This has boosted local businesses too—hotels, priests, wedding planners, music bands, and traditional dhol-damau players are all getting work thanks to this growing trend.

500 Weddings Already Held in Trijuginarayan in 2025

According to local wedding planner Ranjana Rawat, an Indian-origin doctor named Prachi, who currently works in Singapore, is coming to get married here between May 7 and 9. She has already booked a GMVN Tourist Rest House for the ceremony. Ranjana shared that by April this year alone, more than 500 weddings had already been held here, compared to a total of 600 in all of 2024. She added that several well-known personalities have tied the knot at Trijuginarayan, including a scientist from ISRO, actresses Chitra Shukla, Kavita Kaushik, Nikita Sharma, singer Hansraj Raghuwanshi, YouTuber Adarsh Suyal, and Garhwali folk singer Saurabh Maithani.

Registration is a Must for Weddings at Trijuginarayan Temple

Temple priest Sachidanand Panchpuri explained that all weddings here follow proper Vedic rituals and are only allowed after prior registration. He said that it’s also necessary for the bride and groom’s parents or guardians to be present at the ceremony. A special wedding altar (vedi) has been built inside the temple premises where the couple takes their seven vows. After that, a ritual walk around the sacred eternal flame (akhand jyoti) is performed. Other wedding-related events are held at nearby hotels and resorts. In nearby places like Sitapur, local priests also perform wedding rituals in hotels, and fixed fees have been set for these ceremonies.

What’s the Significance of Trijuginarayan Temple?

The Trijuginarayan Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is believed to be the divine site where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. According to tradition, Lord Vishnu himself played the role of Parvati’s brother and gave her away during the ceremony. In the temple courtyard, there’s a sacred fire (akhand agni) that has been burning continuously for centuries. It is said that Shiva and Parvati took their seven marriage vows around this very fire. The structure of the temple closely resembles the famous Kedarnath Temple.
