In preparation for the opening ceremony, the temple is being beautifully adorned with flowers, especially marigolds, creating a stunning and divine atmosphere that is truly a sight to behold. Many devotees have already started arriving to witness this grand occasion. As part of the rituals leading up to the temple’s opening, the sacred Uddhav and Garuda palanquins, along with the seat of Adi Guru Shankaracharya, arrived at Badrinath Dham on Saturday, in line with age-old traditions. The main doors of the temple will be opened early in the morning on Sunday, May 4, precisely at 6 AM.
Huge Crowd of Pilgrims Present
On Saturday afternoon, in the presence of officials from the Shri Badrinath–Kedarnath Temple Committee and the priests’ community from Kedarnath, the gates of Bhakunt Bhairavnath Temple were also opened for the pilgrimage season. During this sacred occasion, the temple priests and purohits conducted special prayers and rituals for Bhairavnath Ji, praying for a smooth and safe pilgrimage season and for the well-being of all devotees. A large gathering of pilgrims witnessed and participated in these spiritual proceedings. It’s important to note that on Basant Panchami, the auspicious date for the opening of Badrinath Dham’s doors was announced at the royal court of Narendranagar in Tehri district. The date was finalized after consulting the Hindu calendar (Panchang) by the royal priest, Acharya Krishan Prasad Uniyal. Preparations for Lord Badrivishal’s grand Mahabhishek began much earlier. On April 22, sesame oil was ceremoniously prepared for the ritual. On the same day, the Gadu Ghada oil pot procession began its journey from the royal court to Badrinath, marking the start of the final phase of preparations for the temple opening.
