In Uttarakhand, Congress is facing trouble from its own MLAs. Now, Haldwani MLA Sumit Hridayesh’s statement on the terrorist attack in Pahalgam has once again made the Congress uncomfortable. Sumit Hridayesh was seen speaking in favour of the Modi government on this issue, and his statement is now going viral on social media. After the attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, the central government has taken several strict steps. Politics has also intensified on this issue – statements are being made from both the government and the opposition. Meanwhile, Haldwani Congress MLA Sumit Hridayesh clearly supported the decision of the Modi government. While talking to the media, he said that he is with the Modi government, and Modi is the Prime Minister of all Indians. While talking to journalists in the video, he said that now the people of Kashmir will have to decide whether they are with India or not. He said, “You are either on this side or that side, there is no middle way.” He said that Modi is our Prime Minister too, whatever decision he takes, we will accept it.
His statement is being appreciated a lot on social media and people are also giving their reactions on it. On one hand, Congress MLAs are openly praising the government, on the other hand, the party is facing difficulties due to the statement of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. BJP has become aggressive on this issue. BJP State President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt expressed displeasure over Siddaramaiah’s statement and said that the double standard of Congress on such issues related to national security is not right. He also said that from the reaction of Pakistani media, it seems that Congress leaders are creating an atmosphere in favor of Pakistan. He said sarcastically that it seems that after this painful incident of Pahalgam, the patriotism of Congress is ending.
There is no uniformity in Congress even on issues like national security and self-respect. In the all-party meeting in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi had talked about supporting the government, but when he reached Kashmir, he started counting the shortcomings of the security agencies. While one CM Revanth Reddy talks about attacking Pakistan, the other CM Siddaramaiah shows weakness by calling the war useless. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor praises the intelligence agencies while Udit Raj speaks against it. BJP alleged that the whole world is condemning this attack and is standing with India, but Congress leaders are still engaged in meaningless statements. BJP leaders said that innocent people have lost their lives in Pahalgam, this is a big crime and Modi government is ready to take strict action for this. He said that now Rahul Gandhi and Congress will also have to decide which side they are on. He also said that they should ask for an apology from their leaders because the public will never forgive such behavior.
