Amendments approved for effective implementation of Chief Minister Kanya Vivah/Nikah Scheme

Bhopal: A cabinet meeting was held in the ministry on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. The cabinet approved amendments for the effective implementation of the Chief Minister Kanya Vivah/Nikah Scheme. Under the scheme, the girl and her parents should live below the poverty line, and their verification on the BPL portal will be mandatory. Mass marriage/nikah programs will be organized by issuing calendars on a division-wise annual cyclical basis for Kanya Vivah and Nikah Sammelan.

The minimum number of couples participating in the mass marriage conference organized in division-wise districts has been fixed at 11 and maximum at 200 couples. In the scheme, scrutiny of applications received in mass marriage/nikah conferences will be done at the body level as before. Aadhaar e-KYC of the bride and groom will be mandatory on the eligible/ineligible and Samagra portal. While making efforts to make the financial benefits received from the government for mass marriage programs meaningful, the cooperation of affluent and capable persons of the society will be obtained by ensuring the participation of public representatives and other social organizations in the event.

Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivaah and Nikah Yojana, out of the amount of Rs. 55,000 per girl, Rs. 49,000 will be given to the bride through an account payee cheque and the remaining Rs. 6,000 will be given to the concerned body for organizing the mass marriage ceremony. The assistance amount of Rs. 49,000 will be transferred to the bride’s account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and the remaining Rs. 6,000 will be provided for expenditure on arrangements for the event.

In-principle approval of Rs 145 crore for development of buffer areas of Tiger Reserve

The Council of Ministers gave in-principle approval of Rs 145 crore for the new scheme “Development of Buffer Areas of Tiger Reserves” for the financial year 2025-26 to 2027-28. Under this scheme, various works will be done in sensitive areas in the buffer areas.

In this new scheme, chain link fencing will be constructed in sensitive areas in the buffer zones. Necessary steps will be taken for the safety of wild animals and fire safety. Grasslands and water sources will be developed. Treatment and health check-up of wild animals will be done. Training will be provided for skill development of citizens. It is noteworthy that in the last 4 years, the number of tigers has increased from 526 to 785 in the buffer areas adjoining 9 tiger reserves of Madhya Pradesh.
