Public awareness program on groundwater quality and monitoring concluded at Kalinga University

Chhattisgarh: The Department of Zoology, Kalinga University in collaboration with Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Raipur successfully organized a public awareness program on groundwater quality and monitoring on 26th March 2025 at the university campus. The aim of the program was to educate students and the local community about the importance of sustainable groundwater management and conservation practices. The program saw active participation from students and faculty members from various disciplines including Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology, BBA. To promote participation and creativity, slogan-writing and other competitions were organized in which students were encouraged to express their views on groundwater conservation through innovative ideas and impactful messages.
The Guests of Honour for the program were Dr. Rajni Kant Sharma (Scientist-C, CGWB, NCCR, Raipur) and Dr. Priyanka Sonbarse (Scientist-D, CGWB, NCCR, Raipur), Senior Scientists, Department of Jal Shakti. Their insightful presentations highlighted important aspects of groundwater quality monitoring, challenges in sustainable water management, and strategies to ensure availability of clean water for future generations. This platform served as an awareness booster on the critical need for community participation in groundwater conservation efforts at the local level. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the dignitaries to the participants and Kalinga University for their valuable contributions in making this initiative a success. This collaborative effort between Kalinga University and CGWB is an important step towards promoting environmental sustainability and responsible water resources management in Chhattisgarh.
