Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Private School Association took this decision
Various organizations across the country have called for a ‘Bharat Bandh’ on August 21 against the Supreme Court’s decision on creamy layer in Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe reservation. Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries and Private School Association have decided not to support this nationwide bandh.
In view of the bandh, Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries held a meeting with the officials of Chhattisgarhiya Sarva Samaj Mahasangh and Sarva Samaj regarding the call for ‘Bharat Bandh’. This meeting was organized to know the Chamber’s stand in support of the proposed ‘Bharat Bandh’ in protest against the reservation classification order issued by the Honorable Supreme Court.
Chamber’s state president Amar Parwani said that there was an intense discussion between the Chamber officials and representatives of Sarva Samaj on this subject. However, the national organizations associated with the Chamber expressed ignorance in support of ‘Bharat Bandh’ and refused to support it. The Chamber’s state president clarified that small traders, hawkers and trade organizations associated with the Chamber’s business of fruits and vegetables, milk and other raw materials have to suffer financial losses in case of a sudden shutdown. Therefore, without prior notice and a meeting of trade unions, it is not possible to support ‘Bharat Bandh’.
Other prominent office bearers of the Chamber, Treasurer Uttamchand Golchha, Executive President Rajendra Jaggi, Executive General Secretary Vikas Ahuja, and representatives of all communities participated in this meeting. The Chamber has made it clear that it will not support any sudden shutdown, which may cause financial losses to small traders and other concerned people.
