Avalanche Strikes Near Badrinath: 57 Trapped, 16 Rescued, CM Dhami Monitors Situation

Uttarakhand Avalanche: 16 Workers Rescued, 41 Still Missing Near Badrinath

A massive avalanche near Badrinath’s Mana village in Uttarakhand buried 57 workers under the snow. So far, 16 have been rescued, while 41 remain missing. The injured workers are being taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared an update, stating that rescue operations are in full swing. All agencies are working in alert mode, with ambulances and other emergency facilities on standby. He assured that every possible effort is being made to save the trapped workers. Meanwhile, CM Dhami has reached the Disaster Operations Center in Dehradun to monitor the situation closely. He has received a full briefing from officials and issued necessary instructions.

According to reports, the workers, who were part of the Border Roads Organization (BRO), were clearing snow from the roads when the avalanche struck, trapping them underneath. The army and BRO teams immediately started the rescue operation, and SDRF teams were also deployed. Despite the harsh weather conditions and heavy snowfall, rescuers managed to pull 16 workers to safety and rushed them to the nearest hospitals. However, the ongoing snowfall is making the operation challenging. One SDRF team has already left from Joshimath, while another is on standby at Sahastradhara helipad, ready to be airlifted when the weather allows. Roads near Lambagarh are blocked, and the army is working to clear them for better access. Authorities have confirmed that the avalanche occurred between Mana village and Mana Pass. Air Force assistance is also being sought, while the army, ITBP, and NDRF are actively engaged in the rescue mission.
