Ujjain’s Mahakal Temple Unveils Enhanced Security Plan with Assigned Responsibilities
Ujjain: The security arrangements at the Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple are about to get a major upgrade. A new plan has been put in place to make the temple complex safer. According to the new plan, the entire temple area has been divided into six sectors. In each sector, a team consisting of police officers, home guards, and private security guards will be deployed. Each sector will also have a beat in-charge responsible for the smooth functioning of security. This beat in-charge will be in charge of handling any incidents or accidents in their sector. The new security measures come after a concerning incident that took place four days ago. A young man managed to enter the sanctum sanctorum and even touched the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, bypassing the temple’s security measures. This incident raised serious questions about the existing security arrangements. No one has been held accountable for the breach so far.
To prevent such incidents in the future, the temple administration has drawn up the new security plan. This plan divides the temple complex into six sectors: the sanctum sanctorum, the area around Nandi and Ganesh Mandapam, the temple premises, and Mahakal Mahalok. Each sector will have its own team, led by a beat in-charge, who will oversee the security. Teams that manage their sectors effectively will be rewarded, while accountability for any mishap will be assigned accordingly. In addition to this, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced the establishment of a new police station at Mahakal Mahalok to further strengthen security and improve the temple’s darshan system. The police station will be set up soon, and the new security plan is considered the first step in this initiative. Once the new security plan is in place, the old system will be discontinued. Previously, the duty roster was prepared by the security officer of the private agency Crystal, who decided where the guards would be stationed. However, under the new system, the entire security operation will be managed directly from the Mahakal temple police post.
