Civil Servants Play a Crucial Role in Building an Atmanirbhar Bharat: Amit Shah
Dehradun: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah addressed the 99th foundation course graduation ceremony today at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. Speaking to the young officers, he emphasized that they are part of a group of skilled individuals dedicated to creating a developed and self-reliant India, filled with practice, hard work, and energy. He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a goal for all of us: by 2047, when the country celebrates its centenary of independence, India should be a leader in every field globally. Shah urged the officers that the work they do over the next 25 years will help realize the dreams of the great leaders who fought for the country’s freedom. He stressed that this mission will only succeed if all 1.4 billion citizens unite to achieve it.
The Home Minister stated that we need to work together to build a nation where every citizen can lead the next generation with dignity and access to all facilities. He pointed out that simply making India number one in every area won’t fulfill the dream of a developed nation; this dream can only be realized when all 1.4 billion people move forward with full strength and have equal opportunities.
Amit Shah highlighted that in civil service, the principle of thinking about others before oneself is paramount. He encouraged the officers to focus on improving people’s lives once they enter public service. He suggested that in any district, they should work on bringing together various data using AI, as these small initiatives can significantly contribute to the country’s progress. He noted that development is measured not by data but by results. Shah referenced Prime Minister Modi’s “Whole of Government approach,” stating that no activity can yield results in isolation. Therefore, success can only be achieved by working together under this approach. He also mentioned that we need to adopt this approach for social harmony, as the country cannot progress unless everyone has equal opportunities. The Home Minister pointed out that 38% of the selected civil service officers present today are women. He stated that until 50% of the country’s population is included in policy-making decisions, the concept of “Women-led Development” proposed by Prime Minister Modi cannot be fully realized.
