Following the instructions given by the National Green Tribunal, Raipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abinash Mishra, like last year, has imposed administrative duty of zone staff including corporation zone commissioners from 6 am on October 12 to 6 am on October 15 in the immersion pool near Mahadevghat Patan culvert in Kharun river for the devotees to immerse the idols of Shri Durga Mata reverently in 2024 on behalf of Raipur Municipal Corporation. The commissioner has ordered the Zone 8 Commissioner to immediately ensure the necessary arrangements of lights, cranes, stage and loud speakers, cleanliness etc. at Mahadev Ghat for the administrative arrangements of Shri Durga Mata immersion with top priority.

The Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Raipur has given instructions to the concerned corporation officials to follow the instructions given by the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal NGT and the government. The Commissioner of Municipal Corporation has directed that on the occasion of Durga festival, the instructions given by the National Green Tribunal NGT and the government should be followed, before Durga immersion at the immersion pond site, the worship material should be separated and kept at a suitable place, as per the instructions of the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal NGT, the garbage, other bamboo sticks and other materials immersed in the permanent pond in the river should be taken out of the pond within 24 hours to prevent water from getting contaminated, it should be strictly followed that Durga immersion should not take place in the river and the river water should be saved from getting contaminated, along with this, as per the instructions of the Hon’ble National Green Tribunal NGT, instructions have been given to the concerned corporation officials to take action by informing the district administration and police administration and establishing coordination to control noise and air pollution. The Commissioner, while making the above mentioned administrative order effective immediately, has directed the concerned corporation officials to ensure strict compliance of the directions of the Honourable National Green Tribunal.
