Expansion of Mohan cabinet in Madhya Pradesh, Ramniwas Rawat took oath as Minister of State

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expanded his cabinet. Ramniwas Rawat took oath as Minister of State at Raj Bhavan this morning. Ramniwas Rawat left Congress and joined BJP on 30 April before the Lok Sabha elections. He has been elected MLA for the sixth time from Vijaypur seat of Sheopur district. He has also been the working president of the state Congress.

Ramniwas Rawat took oath as the 32nd minister of Mohan Cabinet. Governor Mangubhai Patel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Rawat in a simple ceremony on Monday morning. Earlier, Rawat resigned from the membership of the Legislative Assembly, which was accepted by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Narendra Singh Tomar. Rawat joined the BJP just before the Lok Sabha elections.

His joining the BJP has strengthened the party in Gwalior-Chambal. This is the reason why the state as well as the central leadership has already approved the name of Ramniwas Rawat. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav paid a courtesy visit to Governor Mangubhai Patel at Raj Bhavan on Sunday evening and informed him about the cabinet expansion.

Apart from Ramniwas Rawat, there were speculations about inclusion of two more MLAs in the cabinet. These include Kamlesh Shah, who joined BJP from Congress and is contesting by-election after leaving the post of MLA from Amarwara assembly seat, and Nirmala Sapre, MLA from Bina. However, a final decision on their names could not be taken. Let us tell you, there is now space for 3 ministers in the cabinet. At present, there are 31 ministers and the maximum number can be 34.
