The 63rd match of IPL 2024 has been canceled due to heavy rain in Ahmedabad. Rain dashed the hopes of Gujarat Titans and the team is out of the race for the playoffs. Gujarat is the third team to be out of the playoff race in IPL. Before this, Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings have also been out. Due to cancellation of the match, Kolkata and Gujarat got one point each. Gujarat needed two points to stay in the playoff equation, but now got one point after the match was cancelled. Gujarat currently has 11 points from 13 matches and the team’s next match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Even if Gujarat team wins that match, the team will be able to reach maximum 13 points.
In the current points table, already four teams have 14 or more points. In such a situation, GT team is out. Kolkata team has already reached the playoffs. Now the competition to reach the playoffs is between six teams. There are still three slots vacant. The teams in competition are Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants. Gujarat players performed lap of honor after the match was cancelled. He went around the ground and expressed his gratitude to the fans and thanked them.
