YouTube Now Wants Creators To Label AI-Generated Videos To Avoid Major Issue

youTube is going after AI-generated content on the platform and asking its users and creators to label the content that has been synthetically created. The labelling of AI content clearly shows the platform is worried about the videos that are being created using AI tools, and there are instances where you could have a doctored video or audio looking to dupe the viewers.

YouTube is aware of the need to be clear with the details of the content you are seeing, and it seeks transparency from creators and hopes that the self-label mandate will be duly followed.

We’re introducing a new tool in Creator Studio requiring creators to disclose to viewers when realistic content – content a viewer could easily mistake for a real person, place, or event – is made with altered or synthetic media, including generative AI,” YouTube highlighted in its post this week.

The AI label will be pasted on regular videos as well as Shorts on YouTube for its viewers. Having said that, YouTube doesn’t need special labels for content that has been edited using beauty filters, special effects like background blur and animation-like edits.
