Yamunotri accident: Two devotees still missing after landslide, yatra resumed from alternate route

Yamunotri Tragedy: Rescue Operation Underway After Landslide-A devastating landslide on the Yamunotri pilgrimage route has claimed lives and left two pilgrims missing.** Rescue efforts are underway, and authorities are working to ensure the safety of all travelers.

 Ongoing Rescue Efforts-Since Tuesday morning, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been tirelessly searching for two missing pilgrims. The rescue operation is being expedited, with teams working around the clock to locate them.

 Alternative Route Implemented-To prioritize the safety of pilgrims, authorities have rerouted the journey. Travelers will now use an alternative route starting from Bhandeligaad, a safer, 2.5 km path. Necessary amenities are being provided along this new route.

 Monday’s Devastating Landslide-On Monday, a section of the mountain collapsed near Nau Kanchi Band on the Yamunotri trekking path. This resulted in five people being trapped under the debris. While one injured traveler was rescued, sadly, two others perished at the scene.

 Unidentified Victims and Continued Search-The identities of the deceased—a 12-year-old girl and an unidentified adult—remain unknown. Police, SDRF, and NDRF teams are continuing their search for the missing individuals. Authorities urge pilgrims to exercise caution while traveling in the area.
