World’s most successful cheetah rehabilitation campaign under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav released the cheetahs Prabhas and Pavak in an open enclosure on the land of Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary in Mandsaur of Malwa region. With the cheetahs running fast, 20th April, Sunday, was recorded as a historic day for the land of Malwa. For the first time in the country, cheetahs have been rehabilitated at the interstate level. These two cheetahs reached Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary in Mandsaur from Sheopur Kuno today. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav ceremonially released these cheetahs in an open enclosure. There are sufficient number of cheetal, chinkara and small animals here. Both the 6-year-old young cheetahs were roaming around and hunting in the open in Kuno National Park. Therefore, they have been released directly in the open enclosure.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Cheetah Project has been the most successful in the world in Madhya Pradesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. After rehabilitation, the highest number of cheetahs in the world have been born in Kuno of Sheopur. We welcome cheetahs on the land of Malwa. The arrival of cheetahs will give wings to the tourism possibilities in Mandsaur and Neemuch districts. Tourism will get a boost in the border districts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Local people will get new employment opportunities, their standard of living will also improve. The economy will also improve with the increase in the number of tourists. From the point of view of wildlife environment, cheetahs have been successfully rehabilitated on the land of Madhya Pradesh.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr Jagdish Devda, MP Mr Sudhir Gupta, MLA Mr Aniruddha Maru, Mr Hardeep Singh Dung, former Union Minister Mr Satya Narayan Jatia, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Mr Ashok Barnwal, Divisional Commissioner Mr Sanjay Gupta and senior Forest Department officer Mr Asim Shrivastava along with a large number of citizens were present in the program.
Prabhas and Pavak’s journey from Kuno to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary
Two male leopards Prabhas and Pavak were sent from Kuno National Park of Sheopur to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary on Sunday morning, 20 April. A team of 20 people including CCF Uttam Kumar Sharma and Dr. Omkar Achal reached Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary with the leopards. This team will stay in Gandhi Sagar for 7 days. During this time, it will teach the local staff the tricks of taking care of leopards.
These cheetahs were brought in separate vehicles, which reached Mandsaur via Sheopur, Baran, Kota and Jhalawar. The vehicle and the cage were sanitized in Kuno National Park. A 37 km enclosure has been built in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary. A vehicle with emergency facilities and a medical team were also present to deal with the emergency.
