World Record for the Highest T20 Score in India Set, but the Impressive Team Record Lasted Less Than Two Months
In India’s domestic T20 tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, a world record has been set. Baroda has broken Zimbabwe’s record by achieving the highest score in T20 history. This remarkable feat took place during a match against Sikkim, held in Indore. Baroda scored an impressive 349 runs while losing just 5 wickets in their 20 overs. This is the first time any team has reached such a high score in T20 cricket. Previously, the record was held by Zimbabwe, which set a world record of 344 runs against Gambia in October of this year. While Zimbabwe still holds the record for the highest score in T20 internationals, Baroda now takes the lead in overall T20 history. For Baroda, batsman Bhanu Puniya played a stunning innings, scoring 134 runs off just 51 balls , remaining not out.
Other players like Abhimanyu Singh, Vishnu Solanki, and Shivalik Sharma also contributed significantly, each scoring half-centuries and helping the team reach this massive total. Baroda’s achievement not only shattered the previous global T20 record but also surpassed the highest team score in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which was set by Punjab in the last edition of the tournament with 275 runs against Andhra Pradesh.
