Islamabad. The Punjab Assembly of Pakistan on Monday 26 February 2024 elected PML-N’s Maryam Nawaz as the first female Chief Minister of the province and Pakistan. This information was given in media reports. Mariam explained, It is natural that when people are victims of oppression like me, they harbor hatred. I want to say today that I do not want to take revenge, nor do I have hatred for anyone.
According to reports, Maryam won by a massive 220 votes against her rival Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan of Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC). In her one-and-a-half hour long victory speech, Maryam said she was upset with the opposition’s boycott. During this time he was holding the photo of his late mother Kulsoom. He said, I wish the opposition leaders were a part of the political and democratic process today. Maryam said, if the opposition had been present today and they had protested during my speech, I would have been happy.
