Women are putting life into bamboo crafts
Mahatari Vandan Yojana is also helping in becoming financially empowered
Raipur. Mahtari Vandan Yojana has brought great happiness for the special backward tribe Kamar women residing in village Baldakchar located in the remote area of Balodabazar district. Mahtari Vandan Yojana has breathed new life into the bamboo craft art here. With the money received from Mahtari Vandan Yojana, the women here are getting a chance to give a new identity to bamboo craft art and they are also getting help in becoming financially empowered by joining self-employment.
Mrs. Chandni Bai Kamar, residing in Kamarpara of Baldakchar, said that she earns her living by traditionally making bamboo craft art and working as a farmer laborer during agriculture. Earlier she was not able to buy bamboo to make bamboo crafts due to financial constraints, but now she gets 1 thousand rupees per month from Mahtari Vandan Yojana, which she uses to buy bamboo. She is able to make Jhenjhari, Supa, Parra, Tukni and other decorative items in large numbers, by selling which she is earning a good income. Mrs. Chandni has thanked the state government for the Mahtari Vandan Yojana and has requested to increase its amount. Mrs. Mamta Kumar of the same village is also saving the amount received from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana for bamboo crafts and for the education of her daughter 1 year old Lovely Kumar. The amount received every month from the Mahtari Vandan Yojana is a great support for her. It has been the tradition of Chhattisgarh that daughters are given immense love and respect here. Daughters have a special place in every house. On festivals, daughters and sisters are given gifts and money with love. Under this, the sensitive Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai has presented this gift to mothers and sisters on the festival.
