Jagmadwa Small Reservoir Scheme:
Kawardha, 17 November 2024: As per the wishes of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, funds are being sanctioned for the construction of irrigation projects and schemes pending for years in the state.
The construction work of Jagmadwa Reservoir Scheme to be built at a cost of Rs 69.76 crore in village Bodalpani of Sahaspur Lohara development block of Kabirdham district has gained momentum. Rs 39.77 crore has been released by the state government for the construction of this dam. The tender for which has been invited, after which the construction work will start soon. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Sharma had made a special request to Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev to release the amount for the pending irrigation scheme Jagmadwa Reservoir of Kabirdham district for expansion of facilities of farmers.
Collector Mr. Gopal Verma said that a total of 120.02 hectares of government, private and forest land is coming under the submergence of the scheme, for which action is being taken at a fast pace for compensation and diversion. Along with this, survey and technical approval for canal construction has also been obtained. The process of compensation and land acquisition is also going on simultaneously. The tender for which will also be invited.
On the construction of Jagmadawa Reservoir Scheme, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that the prosperity and well-being of farmers is included in the priority of Chief Minister Vishnu dev Sai Government. The state government is committed to provide irrigation facilities, water conservation and assistance to every farmer in crop production. This reservoir scheme will not only fulfill the years-old demand of the farmers, but will also strengthen the economic and social condition of the area.
Thousands of farmers of 14 villages will get direct benefit from the main canal of this project and irrigation facility will be available in 1820 hectares of land. This project will not only become a means of agricultural development but also employment, groundwater level improvement, and positive change in rural life.
Deputy Chief Minister Sharma also told that the government is taking concrete steps to strengthen the infrastructure in rural areas. The Deputy Chief Minister appealed to the farmers and villagers of the area for cooperation in the successful implementation of this scheme. He said that the government is trying to complete all the projects on time and their benefits reach as many people as possible.
The years-old demand of the farmers of the area is going to be fulfilled with the Jagmadawa Reservoir Scheme. The top work site of Jagmadwa Reservoir Scheme is village Bodalpani of Sahaspur Lohara development block. Under the scheme, a pickup weir will be constructed on the river, through which irrigation facility will be provided to the last villages through left and right bank canals. After Kharif irrigation, the moisture available in the fields will produce Rabi crops like wheat, gram and vegetables etc., which will improve the living standards of the people. About 498 quintals of fish will be produced from the reservoir every year, which will provide employment to the villagers. As a result of irrigation facility, the rates of agricultural land will be improved. The groundwater level will increase, which will solve the problems of crop production, drinking water and disposal. Villagers will get the facility of transportation from the service bank of the canals. This area will develop as a tourist destination, due to which the villagers will get employment opportunities. Water facility will be available to wild animals and domestic animals.

The construction of Jagmadwa reservoir will open the way for the progress of farming and farmers will become financially strong. Thousands of farmers of villages Dumriya, Belhari, Jagamdawa, Bano, Basin Jhori, Lakhanpur, Silhati, Lohara, Ramhepur, Tilaibhat, Dalsatola, Dhangaon, Navghata, Sabaratola will get direct benefit from the construction of Jagamdawa reservoir. This scheme will not only raise the level of farming, but will also give a new direction to employment and regional development.
