Will Congress’s protest on the drugs case increase the tension in the assembly

Congress Legislators’ Dramatic Protest: Necklaces of Syringes and Drug Packets-This monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly has witnessed a unique form of protest. Congress MLAs arrived at the assembly wearing necklaces made of syringes and carrying symbolic drug packets. Their demonstration outside the assembly included strong slogans against the BJP. The Congress alleges direct links between BJP leaders and drug cases, accusing the government of inaction.
Accusations of BJP Links to Drugs and Deteriorating Law and Order-Leader of the Opposition, Umang Singhar, and PCC Chief, Jitu Patwari, claim that BJP leaders’ associates are involved in most drug cases in the state. They highlight that a person whose house was recently demolished turned out to be close to a minister. Congress asserts that the state’s drug situation has worsened, surpassing even Punjab’s, with a rise in alcohol sales and youth falling prey to addiction. The opposition directly blames the government’s poor intentions for the deteriorating law and order situation.
Unusual Protests Continue, Signaling Further Assembly Uproar-This isn’t the first unconventional protest by Congress MLAs. Previous days saw them arriving with toy chameleons to accuse the government of flip-flopping, playing the ‘been’ (a musical instrument) in front of a buffalo, and wearing garlands of green leaves to question the PESA Act. The drug issue protest marks day four. With several ministers planning to present new proposals and the opposition geared up to corner the government on law and order and the drug menace, further disruptions in the assembly’s proceedings are anticipated.
